Jaguars vs. Buccaneers: Trevor Lawrence, Andre Cisco and Tyson Campbell All Active
The Jacksonville Jaguars will have just one injured player miss Sunday's matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a sign of the Jaguars' finally turning the corner in terms of health.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence will start after clearing concussion protocol and being ruled questionable earlier in the week, while cornerback Tyson Campbell, safety Andre Cisco, and rookie tight end Brenton Strange will all return after missing multiple weeks.
With that said, the Jaguars will have one starter on the inactive list with an injury in wide receiver Zay Jones, who has battled a knee injury for most of the season and then sustained a hamstring injury last week vs. the Ravens.
Ultimately, the following five players will be inactive in Week 16.
- WR Zay Jones
- CB Gregory Junior
- OLB Yasir Abdullah
- OL Chandler Brewer
- DT Angelo Blackson
With Jones out, the Jaguars will officially be down two starting wide receivers between him and Christian Kirk, who has missed the last two games after being placed on injured reserve with a core muscle injury.
With the injuries at wide receiver, the Jaguars will have larger roles for Parker Washington, Tim Jones, Jamal Agnew, and Elijah Cooks.
"It’s a rotation of everybody. Really going into the tight end room, the running back room of each personnel grouping on each play is specific to who we think does each thing well," Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor said this week.
"You’ll lean on a little bit more of Ag [WR Jamal Agnew], Tim [WR Tim Jones], Elijah [WR Elijah Cooks], Parker [WR Parker Washington], kind of that young rotation of guys stepping into their role. Ideally, getting Brenton [TE Brenton Strange] back would help us out. Luke [TE Luke Farrell] has continued to come on in all aspects of the game, so it’s by committee of everybody stepping in of filling those roles. That’s what you expect week to week in the NFL anyways.”
