Jaguars vs. Colts: Parker Washington, Elijah Cooks Inactive

The Jaguars' two rookie wide receivers won't make their NFL debuts on Sunday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will have five rookies among their inactive list for Week 1 vs. the Indianapolis Colts, including two rookie receivers.

The Jaguars' inactive list is as follows:

  • WR Parker Washington
  • WR Elijah Cooks
  • CB Christian Braswell
  • RB JaMycal Hasty
  • S Antonio Johnson
  • DL Tyler Lacy

With Antonio Johnson (hamstring) and Tyler Lacy (hip) as the only players on the list who are injured, the rest of the inactive list at least reveals to us pieces of the depth chart.

For one, it is clear that Tim Jones is the No. 5 wide receiver, ahead of both Washington and Cooks. Jones served in the same role last year and is a standout special teams player and run blocker, which has earned him a role on the active roster.

Sixth-round cornerback Christian Braswell is the No. 6 cornerback, behind starters Tyson Campbell, Darious Williams and Tre Herndon, along with fellow backup cornerbacks Gregory Junior and Montaric Brown.

With Hasty inactive, it is also now fully and abundantly clear that D'Ernest Johnson is the No. 3 running back behind Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby.

"A young football team, especially going into your first game of the regular season and second year together. There’s a lot of maturity on this team, we have veteran players who have played a lot of ball and there’s maturity there," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said about his team's experience this week.

"I think that’s what puts this team at a little different level when it comes to that. So many young players have played a lot of football, it’s interesting. There’s not a lot that really phases this group. Adversity we know is going to strike at some point, but it’s always been next-man-up mentality. This team doesn’t seem to waiver much at all with that.”
