Jaguars vs. Saints: Doug Pederson ‘Expects’ Trevor Lawrence To Start on Thursday Night Football

The Jaguars are expected to have their starting quarterback on the field vs. the Saints on Thursday Night Football.

It sure looks like the Jacksonville Jaguars will have starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence on hand vs. the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson told ESPN's Ed Werder that he expects Lawrence to play in Week 7, but the injured quarterback will still go through a pre-game workout.

Lawrence left Sunday's 37-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts with a knee injury after rolling out and taking a sack with just over 3:00 left in the game, but the third-year signal-caller said after the game that he was "feeling OK."

Lawrence has started all 42 games of his career since the Jaguars drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick in 2021. The only other notable injury Lawrence has dealt with was a toe injury that briefly knocked him out of the game in last year's Week 13 contest vs. the Detroit Lions.

Lawrence has completed 67.1% of his passes this season for 1,439 yards, with seven touchdowns and three interceptions. Lawrence has also rushed for 147 yards on 33 carries.

Lawrence was limited in Tuesday's practice and could be seen with a brace on his left knee. Lawrence was also listed as limited on Wednesday.

"Yeah, it’s definitely a position I don’t want to be in. I haven’t missed a game in my career. I’m only in my third year, but I take a lot of pride in that and being available, being there and being able to play and compete every week," Lawrence said this week.

"I think that’s something I take a lot of pride in. We’re not at that point yet, we’ve got a couple more days and we’re going to see how the rest of the week plays out. It’s definitely something that means a lot to me, is just being out there, one, but also knowing I can put a good performance out there for my team because that doesn’t help anyone if I can’t. You got to ask that question as well.”
