Josh Allen Sets a Season-High Mark in Jaguars’ Blowout of Colts

Josh Allen had one of the best performances of his career year in Week 6.

Jacksonville Jaguars outside linebacker Josh Allen is having the best year of his career. On Sunday, he took it to another level.

Allen helped the Jaguars begin their blowout Week 6 37-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts with a strip-sack of Gardner Minshew on the Colts' second drive of the game. But it was far from the only big play Allen made.

Allen, who finished the game with four tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, and two quarterback hits also recorded nine pressures against Colts left tackler Bernhard Raimann, according to Next Gen Stats -- the most dominant performance any pass-rusher has had against a single blocker this season.

After seven sacks in 17 games last year, Allen already has hit seven sacks this year -- four of which have come in two contests vs. the Colts.

"Yeah, Josh is the heart and soul on defense. He's been playing extremely well. It's good to see," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said after the game.

"There were a lot of things. He probably felt a little pressure maybe to start the season, to perform. He's answered, he’s answered that. He works hard during the week. It's no surprise that this is what he's capable of doing. Just continues to find ways to get around the quarterback, to affect the quarterback. It obviously impacts the defense when he's creating the plays that he's doing, either a tackle for loss or a strip sack, fumble, things of that nature. It's a credit to Josh and how he's getting himself ready to play."

"He's a huge part of this team. He just brings a lot of energy. Has that intensity, that look in his eyes every day, whether it's practice, Sunday, whenever," Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence said.

"Just brings a lot of energy to our team, to the defense. He's playing great right now. You need guys like that, especially pass-rushers, guys on the D-line. He's bringing that for us."
