Report: Jaguars Will Work Out Trevor Lawrence Pre-Game To Determine if He Plays vs. Saints
Will the Jacksonville Jaguars have quarterback Trevor Lawrence on the field vs. the New Orleans Saints? It appears we are a bit closer to finding out.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jaguars are set to work Lawrence out before the game to determine if he plays on Thursday Night Football.
"Jaguars will work out quarterback Trevor Lawrence before tonight’s game to determine whether or not he can play versus the Saints with his knee sprain, per source. “It could easily be a game time decision,” source added. If Lawrence cannot play, C.J. Beathard would start," Schefter tweeted.
Lawrence left Sunday's 37-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts with a knee injury after rolling out and taking a sack with just over 3:00 left in the game, but the third-year signal-caller said after the game that he was "feeling OK."
Lawrence has started all 42 games of his career since the Jaguars drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick in 2021. The only other notable injury Lawrence has dealt with was a toe injury that briefly knocked him out of the game in last year's Week 13 contest vs. the Detroit Lions.
Lawrence has completed 67.1% of his passes this season for 1,439 yards, with seven touchdowns and three interceptions. Lawrence has also rushed for 147 yards on 33 carries.
Lawrence was limited in Tuesday's practice and could be seen with a brace on his left knee. Lawrence was also listed as limited on Wednesday.
“That’s where you just kind of trust your training staff. As long as Trevor is in a position where he can’t injure himself or as long as he gives us the best chance to win the game, without risking himself or whatever that may be, then that’s what we’ll continue to do," Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor said this week.
"That’s just a conversation with everybody involved in the process."
