Jadeveon Clowney Takes Visit With Jaguars

The former No. 1 overall pick is inside the Miller Electric Center this weekend.

A day after the Jacksonville Jaguars' pass-rush made an emphatic statement vs. the Dallas Cowboys' reserve offensive line, Jacksonville is looking to potentially add another weapon.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Jaguars are hosting former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney for a visit on Sunday, giving the Jaguars a chance to add a Pro Bowl edge defender.

Clowney, 30, spent the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, appearing in 26 games and recording 11 sacks. In 2022, Clowney recorded two sacks and four tackles for loss in 12 games and 10 starts.

The No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Clowney has spent time with the Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks and the Tennessee Titans. In nine seasons, Clowney has been voted to the Pro Bowl three times and has appeared in 114 games with 103 starts. In that span, Clowney has recorded 44.5 sacks, 94 tackles for loss, 114 quarterback hits, eight fumble recoveries, and 13 forced fumbles.

The Jaguars' pass-rush unit is currently led by fellow former No. 1 pick Travon Walker and 2019 first-round pick Josh Allen. It is platooned by 2020 first-round pick K'Lavon Chaisson, third-year pass-rusher Jordan Smith, and rookie Yasir Abdullah, who recorded a sack vs. the Cowboys on Saturday.

The Jaguars' pass-rush was overall impressive vs. Dallas, but it is clear the Jaguars are exploring a potential final option to be the missing piece to a unit that lost Arden Key in free-agency and likely won't have Dawuane Smoot until the second month of the season.

“Always, it’s always a good sign. Always put pressure on their quarterback. I thought that Yasir stood out and had a couple of nice rushes, there," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said. Even the first group getting some pressure. All good things that we’ll look at on tape and build on.”
