Jaguars News: Jacksonville Signs Former LS Carson Tinker, Removes Ben Bartch From PUP

The Jaguars got some much-welcomed roster news on Monday morning.

The Jacksonville Jaguars made several roster moves on Monday, starting with a welcomed reunion.

Forner Jaguars long snapper and fan favorite Carson Tinker made his return to Jacksonville official on Monday, signing in the wake of Ross Matiscik's shoulder injury.

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Matiscik, who was injured during Saturday's preseason opener, said Matiscik would be day-to-day and would not play vs. the Detroit Lions on Saturday if he is sore. Tight end Josh Pederson stepped in for Matiscik vs. the Dallas Cowboys, snapping twice on punts while the Jaguars attempted zero extra points.

“Unfortunately, Ross got knocked out of the game on that first punt on the turnover, and so we were out a long snapper for the rest of the game," Pederson said after the game.

"So, a lot of fourth downs we normally wouldn’t do, and then a lot of two-point conversions that we normally wouldn’t do. It was good to see, Josh stepped in and had two punts there, punt snaps and was effective, obviously, but we’ll see where Ross is at this week.”

Tinker began his NFL career in 2013 after signing with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent. Since then, he has played in 95 games and spent time with the New York Giants, Tampa Bay, Las Vegas, Los Angeles Rams, and Seattle.

The Jaguars also announced that defensive lineman Henry Mondeaux would be placed on the Reserve/Injured list, while veteran guard Ben Bartch would be taken off the Physically Unable to Perform list and added to the active roster after he passed a physical.

Bartch started five games for the Jaguars at left guard in 2022 after winning the starting job in training camp, but a knee injury in Week 5 vs. the Houston Texans ended his season prematurely.

A fourth round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Bartch has appeared in 33 games for the Jaguars over the last three seasons, starting 17.
