Jaguars Waive Nathan Rourke

The team can be expected to add him back to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have waived first-year quarterback Nathan Rourke following his status as the emergency No. 3 quarterback.

Rourke was signed off the practice squad earlier this week, filling in as an extra insurance option for an injured Trevor Lawrence, who entered Week 7 with a knee injury.

Lawrence left Week 6's 37-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts with a knee injury after rolling out and taking a sack with just over 3:00 left in the game, but the third-year signal-caller said after the game that he was "feeling OK."

After a few days of limited practice, Lawrence played on Thursday Night Football in a 31-24 win over the New Orleans Saints. Lawrence, making his 43rd consecutive start, completed 20-of-29 passes for 204 yards and one touchdown.

“It just again shows the type of person he is and the unselfishness he has. I saw it last year when he got injured," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said after the win.

"He got injured in the Detroit game, and he battled injury throughout the rest of the year and gutted that out. This is different. This is a short week. On Monday, I would have told you he was not playing in this football game, but that’s not who Trevor is. Again, I’m proud of his effort – the ability to escape the pocket and run. Fortunately, they were straight-ahead runs. He didn’t have to cut too much. A lot of gutsy performances out there, and his is probably the No. 1.”
