2023 Free Agency: Jaguars Re-Sign Andrew Wingard to 3-Year Deal

The former undrafted free agent re-signed on the second day of free agency, cashing in after a successful first four years.

The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to try to keep most of their core intact, re-signing veteran safety Andrew Wingard on Tuesday.

Wingard signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and has since made the 53-man roster of three different regimes, all while never spending time on the practice squad.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the deal will guarantee Wingard $6 million.

Wingard has appeared in 63 games for the Jaguars over the last four years, including g 24 starts. Wingard has started at least one game in every season, starting two games as a rookie before four in 2020, 15 in 2021, and three last year.

Wingard spent last year as the Jaguars' No. 3 safety behind Andre Cisco and Rayshawn Jenkins, recording 37 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, and one forced fumble vs. the Baltimore Ravens that helped secure the Jaguars the key mid-season victory.

With Wingard in tow, the Jaguars now have all four of their top safeties from a season ago under contract for the 2023 season.

"I mean, as you build your roster, you want to be able to keep the core guys, especially the guys you've drafted and now that their contracts are coming up, we want to be able to resign them. They're good players," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said at the NFL Scouting Combine.

"Even our free agents, Evan, guys like that, we want to be able to keep them and we're gonna do everything we can to try to make that happen."
