2023 QB Index: Where Does Trevor Lawrence Rank After Saints Win?

Where does Trevor Lawrence rank in NFL.com's quarterback index after an efficient performance vs. the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football?

Trevor Lawrence is in a good place.

After an uneven start to the 2023 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars are riding a four-game winning streak and Lawrence's consistent play is a big part of it.

After a few days of limited practice, Lawrence played on Thursday Night Football in a 31-24 win over the New Orleans Saints. Lawrence, making his 43rd consecutive start, completed 20-of-29 passes for 204 yards and one touchdown.

“It’s a case-by-case deal. If that’s what we feel like gives us the best opportunity to win a game, we’ll play that way. I think that’s also something Trevor is really good at, for a big long guy, he gets the ball out of his hand very quickly," Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor said this week.

"It’s something we try to take advantage of, we get it out of his hands to playmakers which we mentioned, we have a lot of skill players that can do a lot with the football. Sometimes it’s to our benefit to get him the ball as quick as possible. Sometimes, we want to hold the ball and push the ball down the field. There’s an ebb and flow within a game, within a week, or week-to-week as it goes.”

So what did Lawrence's clean outing vs. the New Orleans Saints do for him in this week's QB Index?

"Lawrence continues to take positive steps, stringing together some strong games that look better on tape than they do in the final stat sheet. We’re not all about numbers here, though, which benefits Lawrence, who was dialed in throughout last week’s win over the Saints. He even managed to lead Jacksonville in rushing (59 yards on eight attempts) just days after suffering a knee injury that threw his Week 7 status into question. Lawrence is steadily ascending, and the Jaguars are following suit," NFL.com said.

"I think just doing my job is what it is, and being able to do that regardless of the circumstances, whether you’re one hundred percent or maybe not one hundred percent," Lawrence said this week. "I don’t want to take attention away from all the other guys that are playing banged up, too. It’s not just about me, it’s about the team and I think that’s what the thought process is with all of us. Whether you’re playing through injury or whatever it may be, there’s a lot of guys that do that on our team and on every other team every week.

"That’s not necessarily the most uncommon thing, but it felt good to be able to deliver when you need to and play well for your team and all those things. Of course, it’s not perfect, I don’t feel like I had my best game by any means on Thursday. But to be able to do the things I needed to do to help us win, it was a full team effort and it was a good feeling for sure.”

Here is where we will track Lawrence's rank in the QB Index each week:

Week 2: 5

Week 3: 6

Week 4: 11
