Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill: ‘I Could Put Christian Kirk in My Top Five’

Tyreek Hill made his case for Jacksonville Jaguars' Christian Kirk as a top-5 wide receiver in a recent conversation with Shannon Sharpe.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk has been one of the most consistent and productive receivers in football in 2022, to little surprise for those inside TIAA Bank Field and, evidently, All-Pro Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

“I could put Christian Kirk in my top five because I believe he’s a top-five receiver,” Hill said in an interview with Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast earlier this week.

Kirk, who the Jaguars signed to a controversial four-year, $72 million deal with $37 million guaranteed in March, has been everything the Jaguars could have asked for in 2022 during a career year.

Kirk has already hit career highs in yards (982) and touchdowns (seven) through 15 games, while he is one catch from tying his career high of 77.

Kirk is currently 17th in the NFL in receptions, 16th in receiving yards and tied for 11th in touchdown receptions, and 14th in targets.

"Christian has been a guy that he’s been a very good receiver for us, been sort of a go-to guy for Trevor, I think Press (Taylor), Jim Bob (Cooter), and the guys, myself and the guys that do the red zone plan, we think about the players, not so much the plays. He does a nice job of getting himself open and separation," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said earlier this season.

"Sometimes you get down there and the attention to detail just has to ramp up, and he’s been focused that way. He’s been great for us in the red zone this year, and it’s something we can continue to build upon.”

Kirk has been one of the biggest reasons the Jaguars have flipped their fortunes in recent weeks. After starting the year 3-7, the Jaguars have won four of their last five, including three in a row off the heels of some stellar offensive performances.

"I am a firm believer in manifestation," Kirk said last week.

"When Doug came in and put those three games up in the next 15 days and said, ‘This is what we have in front of us. We can decide how we want to attack it and what we want to do.’ Everybody bought in and nobody blinked. Nobody flinched. There was not a doubt in our minds that we weren’t capable of going out and doing what we are doing so far.
