Doug Pederson Updates Jaguars' Injuries, Ben Bartch's Impending Return
The Jacksonville Jaguars left Detroit with a long list of injuries, but head coach Doug Pederson was able to provide some positive updates on Monday morning.
While Pederson said offensive tackle Josh Wells would miss time, it doesn't appear there are many other serious injuries along the line.
- Pederson said rookie right tackle Anton Harrison "dinged up" his previously injured shoulder in Detroit, but was held out of the game for just precautionary reasons. He could have played, and will play vs. Miami this weekend.
- Chandler Brewer is in the concussion protocol.
- Tyler Shatley is in his final week of blood thinners after experiencing atrial fibrillation earlier in camp but will still be a non-contact player.
- Cooper Hodges has a patella injury and his timetable is unclear, but he will miss at least the rest of training camp. Pederson didn't make it sound season-ending.
"You know, and looking at the depth, yeah, we're a little thin at the offensive line. It's something we're gonna monitor, you know, this week, but right now, you know, we're comfortable where we are and some of the guys that we're gonna get back here in the next few days, so, it doesn't look like we're gonna add anybody at this time."
Along with the offensive line injuries, Pederson noted there is still no timetable for the return of starting defensive lineman DaVon Hamilton, who is out indefinitely with a non-football-related medical issue with his back.
"Not at this time. He's still being monitored, you know, by the medical professionals in town and just making sure that he's, you know, a hundred percent," Pederson said on Monday when asked if Hamilton was in the facility.
"I got a text message just to update you on that. Just got a text message this morning that he's doing much better and feeling better. So, he's definitely on the road to recovery."
As for a potential return in the trenches, Pederson did say there was a chance for fourth-year guard Ben Bartch to return to play this week against Miami. Bartch has not played since a season-ending injury in Week 5 last year. He was taken off the PUP list last week and will see his practice reps increase this week.
"You know, he started his time last week. We're gonna increase his reps this week and he'll have a chance to play in the Miami game and, and give us some quality reps there," Pederson said.
