Evan Engram After Working Out With Trevor Lawrence, Rest of Jaguars' Offense: 'We Didn't Miss A Beat'

The Jaguars' offense got some good work in together in Arizona last week,

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram was always going to be ready for training camp. But now, the veteran tight end can completely turn his focus toward fine-tuning the Jaguars' offense after signing a three-year contract extension ahead of the franchise-tag deadline.

Even with the deadline approaching over the weekend, Engram was one of many Jaguars skill players to travel to Scottsdale for workout sessions on the field with quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

From Engram to Calvin Ridley to Christian Kirk to Zay Jones to Travis Etienne, most of the Jaguars' heavy-hitters on offense were in attendance as the Jaguars prepared for camp. After the franchise tag situation prevented Engram from sharing the field with the offense in the spring, he was able to use the Arizona trip as a way to help the Jaguars' offense hit the ground running.

“That was kind of the toughest thing about this process was not being here for OTAs and not being out on the field with my guys,” Engram said via Jaguars.com. “We actually were just in Arizona getting some work in together and everybody looks so good. We didn’t miss a beat.

“Trevor looks good, he’s leading the team. Calvin [Ridley], Christian [Kirk], Zay [Jones], all the young guys are out there working. So I can’t wait to see what we can do when we put everything together.”

Engram signed a three-year $41.25 million deal with $24 million in guarantees on Sunday, just over 24 hours before the deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign a new deal.

Among tight ends, Engram ranks No. 6 in average annual value, No. 9 in total value and No. 9 in guarantees.

Engram had a career year in 2022 as he caught 73 passes for 766 yards and four touchdowns, along with 12 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown in two playoff games.

Engram not only finished fourth among all tight ends in receiving yards, but he set a franchise record for receptions and receiving yards by a tight end in a single season.
