Injured TE Josh Oliver day-to-day, close to returning
The Jacksonville Jaguars made it clear from the offset that they wanted rookie tight end Josh Oliver to be a large part of their offense this year. After all, the third-round pick from San Jose State offers a skillset that no other tight end on the roster outside of Seth DeValve has.
But in the beginning of August, Oliver sustained a hamstring injury that head coach Doug Marrone called "significant". Luckily for the Jaguars, Oliver's health appears to be trending in a positive direction.
"He is day-to-day now, so it is close," Marrone said Thursday. "He had a full run and a full lift the other day. So he is day-to-day."
It is unclear of Oliver will be available against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, but that appears unlikely at this point. But his return is not far enough down the road to be a cause for concern, and Foles' favorite position to throw to should be bolstered soon enough.
