Jaguars Cancel Final OTA Practice, Hold Team Paintball Session
The Jacksonville Jaguars spent the final day of OTAs with some team bonding.
Instead of 7-on-7, conditioning, and individual drills, the Jaguars traded out their helmets and cleats for masks and paintball guns, with the Jaguars canceling their final OTA practice in favor of a team paintball session that even included general manager Trent Baalke.
The Jaguars wrapped up OTAs this week as they will now turn their eyes toward mandatory veteran minicamp next week. This isn't the first time Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson has put together a team bonding trip at the end of OTAs, with the Jaguars holding a team session at Top Golf last year before Pederson gave veterans the week of minicamp off.
Pederson has said multiple times throughout the offseason how impressed he was by the Jaguars' participation and performance at OTAs, with nearly every player on the roster partaking in the voluntary practices.
"I've been pleased. One, because of the participation, the amount of guys that are here. That is the number one thing that I look at, because it's a voluntary off-season program, right? Next week is the mandatory minicamp, the only three days that the guys are required to be here," Pederson said on Monday.
"So I've been really pleased, been having great participation, great effort, guys are doing the right things. We've been able to work on some stuff that the coaches have taken away from last season or new ideas, new thoughts. We've been able to implement those this spring and really just get stuff on film really. But it's been a good offseason so far."
After winning the AFC South title in 2022 following a late-season run and some end-of-game heroics, the Jaguars are spending this offseason looking for a way to get past the AFC's elite -- with paintball playing its role.
