Jaguars' Doug Pederson on Zay Jones: 'Until We Hear Something, It’s Day-to-Day for Him'
The Jacksonville Jaguars are in wait-and-see mode when it comes to wide receiver Zay Jones following his arrest on Monday evening for misdemeanor domestic battery.
"Yeah, we’ve been in great communication with him since his situation. Not much more than that other than it’s still ongoing, fact finding, information gathering, things of that nature," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said on Wednesday. "Quite honestly, until we hear something, it’s day-to-day for him."
Pederson said Jones would practice on Wednesday.
"Yes, correct, limited. Try to get him back up to speed football wise, he’s missed a few days and a few weeks, just see where he’s at," Pederson said.
Jones is in his second season with the franchise after signing a three-year, $24 million deal with $14 million in guarantees in 2022.
Jones caught 82 passes for 823 yards and five touchdowns in his first season with the team, appearing in 16 regular-season games and starting two playoff games. Jones caught 13 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown in the playoffs.
Jones, who injured his knee in Week 2 vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, has appeared in just three games this year. Week 1 was the only game where he played the entire four quarters without leaving due to injury, though he did return in Week 2 after a brief absence.
Jones then missed the next two weeks before returning in Week 5 vs. the Buffalo Bills, where he caught five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown before his injury flamed up again in the second half.
On the season, Jones has caught eight passes for 78 yards and two of Trevor Lawrence's nine touchdown passes.
