Jaguars get more good injury news Tuesday
A little over two weeks ago, Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone addressed the media in a downtrodden mood due to a list of injuries that had continued to rack up. Marrone wasn't sure when left tackle Cam Robinson or wide receiver Marqise Lee would be back on the field after their ACL injuries last season, and other players on the roster were dinged up as well.
But it has been a much different situation since Marrone appeared at a loss for why his team could not stay healthy. Since then, Robinson and Lee have each been activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list and Robinson has taken preseason game snaps.
Then on Tuesday, the Jaguars got even more good news. Rookie linebacker Quincy Williams was sidelined at the beginning of the month with a slight meniscus tear, but he returned to the practice field for the first time in weeks on Tuesday.
Williams has been the team's likely starter at weakside linebacker ever since Telvin Smith announced in May that he would not play football in 2019. Getting him back 12 days before the team's difficult home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs is huge, depending on whether he is a full go by then or not.
The Jaguars also saw wide receiver D.J. Chark return to practice Tuesday after leaving the game vs the Miami Dolphins on Thursday with a concussion. Chark is not fully cleared from the concussion protocol, but taking part in practice after being held out the day before is a good sign.
Chark's concussion came at a precarious time considering how close week 1 is. After the team invested a second-round draft pick in him in the 2018 NFL Draft, he is expected to step up and play a large role in the offense this season. Participating Tuesday was a great sign for Chark moving forward, pending any setbacks.
