Jaguars Hire Nick Holz As Passing Game Coordinator

The Jaguars have found their replacement for Jim Bob Cooter.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have added their final coach for the 2023 offseason announcing the hiring of Nick Holz as Passing Game Coordinator on Thursday.

Holz will replace former coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, who left Doug Pederson's staff this week to take the offensive coordinator job in Indianapolis.

A former wide receiver at Colorado, Holz spent 2022 as the offensive coordinator at UNLV. Under Holz, the UNLV offense improved from 20.8 points per game (No. 112 in the country) in 2021 to 26.3 points per game (No. 76 in the country) in 2022.

Prior to his post at UNLV, Holz coached with the Las Vegas Raiders from 2012-21 in a variety of roles on the offensive side of the ball. Holz served as the team’s assistant receivers coach (2017, 2021), offensive quality control coach (2015-16, 2018-20) and worked alongside the offensive staff from 2012-14.

Prior to coaching with the Raiders, Holz was an offensive assistant at Stanford (2008-11). Holz’s coaching career began in 2007 at Nebraska, where he served as an offensive quality control coach and video intern.

Holz will be in a non-play calling role in Jacksonville and will now serve as one of the primary voices around quarterback Trevor Lawrence, joining Pederson, offensive coordinator Press Taylor, and quarterbacks coach Mike McCoy.

With Holz now on staff, the Jaguars have replaced all of their departed coaches from 2022 in Cooter and former wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, who was replaced by Chad Hall.

Holz is the third offensive coach added to the staff this offseason.
