Jaguars Podcast: What Happened vs. the Chiefs?

In this week's podcast, John and Gus go over the Week 2 loss to the Chiefs.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are going back to the drawing board after their Week 2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Jaguars were kept out of the end zone for the entirety of the 60-minute battle, losing 17-9 in an offensive whimper that has led to questions about the Jaguars' offensive direction through two weeks.

“It’s not a long term concern at all, it kind of reminded me of the Houston game last year here, where we didn’t play very well and lost that football game," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said on Monday.

"Listen, it’s Week 2, it’s one game and half of the league lost yesterday. We were one of the teams to lose. We’re still right where we want to be, you’re still 1-0 in the division with a division game this week. A lot of football ahead of us still.”

But how do John and Gus think the game got out of hand and led to a loss? They reveal it in this week's episode of The JaguarReport Podcast, offering their thoughts on the offensive issues, the defensive resurgence and more.

"When you put on the film and you watch it this morning with a little calmer eyes, there are plays there. We got to make sure our players understand and we coach them better so they can recognize certain things. That’s the thing, we have veteran guys and guys that have played a lot of games on offense, but you just can’t assume. As a coach, you can’t assume that they know everything. You can’t assume that they’re going to make it. That’s why as coaches, we wear the C on our hat, right. It’s our job, we’re the ones spending all the time watching the tape, so we have to prepare our players to be able to recognize certain things and be able to go out and execute the gameplan during the week.”
