Jaguars Provide Update on DL DaVon Hamilton

The veteran defensive lineman is currently on injured reserve.

The Jacksonville Jaguars provided an update on defensive lineman DaVon Hamilton on Wednesday, announcing that Hamilton will remain in Jacksonville as the team travels to London for two weeks.

"DaVon Hamilton is looking forward to finishing his antibiotics next week and continuing his training here in Jacksonville (while the team is in London). While doctors are very pleased with his progress, it would be premature to put a timeline on his return," the Jaguars said in a statement.

Hamilton was placed on injured reserve before Week 1 with a non-football-related medical issue with his back. Since then, there has been little in terms of a timeline or specifics with Hamilton's status.

“DaVon is getting closer to getting back out on the field. He’s been lifting and working out and conditioning and all that, he still has his line in right now so hopefully the next week or two that comes out but as far as the London trip, probably not going to take him," Pederson said last week.

"We want to keep him here so there’s no setbacks, we’re in a different part of the world obviously and we want to keep things pretty consistent around him right now, he’s on a good track for getting back soon.”

Drafted in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the No. 73 overall pick, Hamilton was the first member of the Jaguars' 2020 class to sign a new deal with the team. Hamilton is the first Jaguars draft pick to sign an extension since Cam Robinson and punter Logan Cooke.

Hamilton has appeared in 46 games for the Jaguars, starting 30. In that span, he has recorded 132 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and four pass deflections.

Hamilton had his best season in 2022, starting 14 games and recording 56 tackles, five tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks while playing 53% of the snaps.
