Jaguars Re-Sigh Jeremiah Ledbetter

The veteran defensive lineman will return for another season in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Jaguars officially re-signed veteran defensive lineman Jeremiah Ledbetter on Friday, opening the door for Ledbetter to return for his third season with the team.

Ledbetter, who signed to the Jaguars' practice squad in 2022, made the team out of training camp in 2023 thanks to a standout performance in the preseason. He went on to appear in all 17 games, starting two games and playing 33% of the defensive snaps.

In 17 games, Ledbetter recorded 24 tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, one pass deflection, and one fumble recovery.

Ledbetter proved to be a valuable rotational piece as injuries hit the interior defensive line in 2023, with he and Angelo Blackson playing valuable snaps before DaVon Hamilton's return to the lineup.

Now, Ledbetter figures to once again be a veteran depth piece as the Jaguars see a full return from Hamilton but also look to fill the role of released defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi. Ledbetter will join Hamilton, Roy Robertson-Harris, Adam Gotsis, and 2023 draft pick Tyler Lacy in the defensive tackle room under new defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, who will likely look to change the scheme from a 3-4 to a 4-3.

Ledbetter was originally drafted in the sixth round (205th overall) by the Detroit Lions in the 2017 NFL Draft, where he played in 16 games. He has spent time with Tampa Bay, Baltimore and Arizona, playing in four games from 2018-2020. In his career, he has recorded 42 total tackles (16 solo), eight quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and one fumble recovery.
