The Jacksonville Jaguars have a massive test ahead of them when they open their 2019 season on Sunday vs the Kansas City Chiefs and reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes. Before that test though, a few starting positions still have to be cleared up.

Jacksonville painted an unofficial picture of what a few of those positions may end up looking like against the Chiefs. The initial depth chart came with few surprises and obviously nothing is set in stone, but let's take a look at where things stand today.

Offense:

Wide receiver: 12 Dede Westbrook--18 Chris Conley--84 Keelan Cole.

Left tackle: 74 Cam Robinson--77 Cedric Ogbuehi.

Left guard: 68 Andrew Norwell--70 Brandon Thomas

Center: 65 Brandon Linder--69 Tyler Shatley

Right guard: 60 A.J. Cann/76 Will Richardson Jr.

Right tackle: 75 Jawaan Taylor

Tight end: 87 Geoff Swaim--89 Josh Oliver

Wide receiver: 11 Marqise Lee 17--DJ Chark Jr.--16 C.J. Board

Quarterback: 7 Nick Foles--15 Gardner Minshew

Running back: 27 Leonard Fournette--23 Ryquell Armstead--24 Tyler Ervin/33 Devine Ozigbo

Tight end: 80 James O’Shaughnessy--88 Seth DeValve

Defense:

Defensive end: 91 Yannick Ngakoue--41 Josh Allen--55 Lerentee McCray

Nose tackle: 95 Abry Jones--98 Dontavius Russell

Defensive tackle (three-technique): 99 Marcell Dareus--90 Taven Bryan

Defensive end: 93 Calais Campbell--94 Dawuane Smoot

Will linebacker: 56 Quincy Williams--57 D.J. Alexander

Middle linebacker: 44 Myles Jack--52 Najee Goode

Punter returner: 12 Dede Westbrook/24 Tyler Ervin--11 Marqise Lee--29 Josh Robinson

Kick returner: 17 DJ Chark Jr./24 Tyler Ervin--11 Marqise Lee--84 Keelan Cole

Observations:

  • It is not surprising to see Will Richardson and A.J. Cann listed as co-starters at right guard at this point in the week. Look for head coach Doug Marrone to make a call here closer to game day, but our prediction is that Will Richardson will start Sunday.
  • Keelan Cole is a bit buried on the unofficial depth chart. He is listed as a third-team receiver with C.J. Board, which makes sense since it is clear Chris Conley and D.J. Chark have leapfrogged him during training camp. But maybe most surprising is to see him already listed behind newcomer Tyler Ervin as kick returner after Cole was featured as a special teams returner throughout the preseason
  • Taven Bryan not being listed as a starter unofficially isn't surprising, though it is hard to envision it is what the Jaguars hoped would happen when they released Malik Jackson. Bryan has had more negative plays than positive ones in the preseason, making it a bit of a necessity that the Jaguars lean on more dependable veterans like Marcell Dareus and Abry Jones instead.
