Jaguars Rule Devin Lloyd Out For London Games

The 2022 first-round pick will not be on hand for the Jaguars' games vs. the Falcons or Bills.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without starting linebacker Devin Lloyd for at least the next two weeks, head coach Doug Pederson said on Wednesday.

Lloyd will have surgery today after injuring his thumb in Week 3 vs. the Houston Texans. Pederson said he will have screws put into his thumb and the hope is that he will return in Week 6 vs. the Indianapolis Colts.

"He's probably gonna miss this football game. Just the nature of the injury and you know, what's gonna take place with him," Pederson said. "So, he's actually one of the, one of the players we're gonna keep back here for the next two weeks."

Lloyd has started all three games this season, recording 19 tackles, three pass deflections, and one fumble recovery.

"I think with Devin, just his overall game has improved. He’s a second-year, he’s comfortable playing in the run and playing in coverage," Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell said earlier this season.

With Lloyd set to miss the next two games, the Jaguars will start 2022 third-round pick Chad Muma alongside Foyesade Oluokun. Muma played increased snaps in Week 3 due to Lloyd's injury. He started two games in 2022 and appeared in 16, recording 47 tackles, three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one pass deflection.

"Yeah, Chad' been doing really well. You know, we wanted to make sure he continues to develop and play and not hold him back. So getting him in the football game last week obviously was by design," Pederson said.

"Now, you know, he gets a chance to, to step up and, and start and, and be in the huddle full time and, you know, lean on last year a little bit. A young player who we're excited about, and he'll do a good job."
