Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence Turned Down Netflix’s Quarterback Series

Trevor Lawrence won't be making an appearance on Netflix's Quarterback series.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence won't be on the second season of Netflix's Quarterback.

“I was approached. I decided to not do it this year. I feel like it’s just not the right time for me. Maybe in the future. I watched the show, though. I thought it was great. I think they did a great job,” Lawrence said after practice on Sunday.

The first season of the series featured Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota and Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. The series has been met with acclaim, exploring a deep look into the daily life of starting NFL quarterbacks of all levels.

In 17 starts in 2022, Lawrence completed 387 of 584 passes for 4,113 yards and 25 TDs. His 387 completions were the most in a single season in franchise history and his five rushing TDs were tied with Garrard for the most in single-season franchise history.

Lawrence joined Bengals QB Joe Burrow and Bills QB Josh Allen as the only players in the NFL with 25-plus passing TDs and at least five rushing TDs. Against the Titans in Week 14, Lawrence set a career-high with 368 yards passing and was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.

The second-year quarterback totaled four 300-yard passing games and orchestrated three comebacks of 17-plus points, including a comeback from behind 27-0 in the postseason against the Chargers.

Last year, Lawrence ranked top-8 in DYAR, DVOA, effective yards, interception %, ANY/A, Sack %, and success rate, while also finishing top-10 in EPA/Play and CPOE.

Lawrence has so far had a successful third training camp, his second under head coach Doug Pederson. After a breakout sophomore season, all eyes are on Lawrence to continue to ascend in 2023.

“Yeah, I feel really comfortable, feel really confident. Feel like that's me but that's also the other guys. We've had so much experience together and so many different situations we've seen," Lawrence said.

"It's nice to be able to lean on those for your second camp in this system. You can go back to Week 14 of last year, I remember checking this play against this team in this coverage. So, the call comes up again and you see them same thing it's like, 'Alright, you remember when we did this?' and you can just get to it quick. I think that's so valuable when you think about an offense and just being able to do that. To just get yourself in the play that you want and as a quarterback that I feel confident and I can just go play free because I know what I want, I know what I like, and I know what my guys are good at."
