Jaguars' Tyson Campbell Receives Votes in ESPN's Top-10 CB Rankings

Tyson Campbell is likely just another year away from cracking the list.

The Jacksonville Jaguars haven't gotten a ton of representation in one of the most important rankings list of the year, but one young building block does appear to be on the verge of being mentioned with the league's best.

In an ESPN ranking of the top-10 cornerbacks for the 2023 season, Jaguars cornerback Tyson Campbell was left off the top-10 list and the honorable mentions group but was listed among those who received votes in the top-10.

Alongside Campbell who received votes without making one of the top two groups was Stephon Gilmore, James Bradberry, J.C. Jackson, Carlton Davis, Trent McDuffie, Charvarius Ward, and D.J. Reed.

The No. 33 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Georgia Bulldogs product started 14 games as a rookie, recording two interceptions and 10 pass breakups. He then upped his game in 2022, recording three interceptions and 15 pass deflections in 17 starts while also starting two playoff games.

Campbell, 23, is one of the Jaguars' most exciting ascending talents on the roster. While Campbell had a 2022 season that was good enough to deserve looks with top-10 votes, he might be one more strong year away from getting the recognition his play says he deserves.

"As part of ESPN's 2023 NFL season preview, we surveyed league executives, coaches, scouts and players to help us rank the top 10 players at 11 different positions," ESPN said.

"By way of refresher, here's how our process works: Voters give us their best 10 players at a position, then we compile the results and rank candidates based on number of top-10 votes, composite average, along with dozens of interviews, research and film-study help from ESPN NFL analyst Matt Bowen. In total, more than 80 voters submitted a ballot on at least one position, and in many cases all positions. We had several ties, so we broke them with the help of additional voting and follow-up calls with those surveyed."
