Jaguars vs. 49ers: Zay Jones Ruled Out
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without wide receiver Zay Jones for another week, with the veteran officially ruled out on Friday.
Jones did return to practice in a limited capacity this week after several weeks of not practicing, which does indicate that he is at least nearing a return.
“We’ll give him one more day today and see, probably a long shot but we’ll see. He’s doing better," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said about Jones.
Jones, who injured his knee in Week 2 vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, has appeared in just three games this year. Week 1 was the only game where he played the entire four quarters without leaving due to injury, though he did return in Week 2 after a brief absence.
Jones then missed the next two weeks before returning in Week 5 vs. the Buffalo Bills, where he caught five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown before his injury flamed up again in the second half.
On the season, Jones has caught eight passes for 78 yards and two of Trevor Lawrence's nine touchdown passes. To this point in the season, he has caught 50% of Lawrence's red-zone touchdowns.
As for the rest of the Jaguars' roster, cornerback Tyson Campbell, safety Andre Cisco, and safety Daniel Thomas are all questionable with hamstring injuries, though it does appear that Campbell and Cisco will return after missing Week 8 vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Tyson is doing well, he had a good week of practice, him and Cisco are really good, Walker [Little] is really good, so they should be fine," Pederson said.
