Jaguars vs. Texans Injury Report: Zay Jones, Denzel Perryman Out
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without wide receiver Zay Jones in Week 3, ruling him out with a knee injury ahead of the matchup with the Houston Texans.
The Jaguars also ruled out safety Antonio Johnson with a hamstring injury. The Jaguars ruled outside linebacker Josh Allen (shoulder), safety Andrew Wingard (shoulder), and defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi (shoulder) questionable.
"Josh Allen did well in practice yesterday, so with another good day today and no setbacks, he should be okay. Foley [Fatukasi] is the same way, we will see where he’s at today and get him moving around," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said on Firday.
"Zay [Jones] is probably still more day-to-day, we just to see where he’s at. I don’t want to risk anything further with him right now at this point. We’ll see where he’s at, he’s been working hard this week. Antonio [S Antonio Johnson] is still not ready yet. [OL Brandon Scherff and OL Luke Fortner] are good, they’re good. Dewey [S Andrew Wingard] is fine, Dewey is good.”
The Texans also ruled out cornerback Derek Stingley, linebacker Denzel Perryman, safety Jalen Pitre, and cornerback Tavierre Thomas. Offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil is listed as questionable. With Stingley out, the Jaguars will likely face Shaquill Griffin at cornerback.
“Yeah, they’re still going to play the same thing. Shaq [Griffin] came up in Seattle, come up in this coverage scheme," Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor said this week.
"It’s something that he’s familiar with, he played in the Indy game and you see him out there in that game as well. A lot of these guys have played, whether it’s in this system in Houston getting implemented for the first time, a lot of these guys come up in the system. That’s where Shaq cut his teeth playing in this style of coverage unit. It’s something he’s very familiar with obviously and he’s done it for a long time.”
