Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office on Monday for a misdemeanor domestic battery charge, according to jail records.

Jones, 28, was booked by the sheriff's office after 6 p.m.

"We are aware of the situation and are in the midst of gathering information. We will have no further comment at this time," a Jaguars spokesperson said in a statement.

According to jail records, Jones' first court appearance is set for 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Jones is in his second season with the franchise after signing a three-year, $24 million deal with $14 million in guarantees in 2022.

Jones caught 82 passes for 823 yards and five touchdowns in his first season with the team, appearing in 16 regular-season games and starting two playoff games. Jones caught 13 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown in the playoffs.

Jones, who injured his knee in Week 2 vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, has appeared in just three games this year. Week 1 was the only game where he played the entire four quarters without leaving due to injury, though he did return in Week 2 after a brief absence.

Jones then missed the next two weeks before returning in Week 5 vs. the Buffalo Bills, where he caught five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown before his injury flamed up again in the second half.

On the season, Jones has caught eight passes for 78 yards and two of Trevor Lawrence's nine touchdown passes.

Update: Jones was released from custody on Tuesday on $2,503 bond. According to arrest records, the victim shares a child with Jones and allegedly got into an argument with Jones regarding taking their child to Orlando, where she lives.

According to the arrest report, the responding officer "observed several small scratches on the victim's neck, consistent with marks from a fingernail."
