Jalen Ramsey Traded to Rams for Package of Picks
After a month of a highly public standoff, Jalen Ramsey's time with the Jaguars has finally drawn to a close as the All-Pro cornerback has been traded to the Los Angeles Rams for a haul of picks, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Jaguars now have four first-round picks over the next two drafts following the blockbuster trade. With the haul of picks, they currently have 18 draft picks over the next two drafts, a massive deal for a young team with some question marks throughout its roster.
Ramsey requested a trade from Jacksonville following the team's Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans. Ramsey got into a verbal altercation with head coach Doug Marrone during the first quarter of the game after Marrone did not challenge a DeAndre Hopkins catch, leading to speculation that the incident directly led to Ramsey's request.
However, Ramsey said on The Uninterrupted 17 Weeks podcast that it was actually issues with the front office and the organization which led to his trade request. He said a member of the front office said "disrespectful" things to him following the Houston loss, and he asked for a trade immediately after.
Ramsey played in Jacksonville's next game against the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football, but he has not played a snap for the Jaguars since. He has missed the last three games with a back injury that the team said he suffered against the Titans. Those were the first three missed games of Ramsey's NFL career.
Ramsey and the team have had a public standoff since he requested the trade, with Ramsey only practicing a total of three times since defeating the Titans in Week 3.
Ramsey saw a back specialist in Houston the Monday following the team's Week 5 loss to the Carolina Panthers, but the specialist did not find anything "debilitating" with the injury, according to reports.
Ramsey, the Jaguars' first-round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft, joins the team's 2014 and 2015 first-round picks, quarterback Blake Bortles and defensive end Dante Fowler, in Los Angeles.
