Josh Allen Delivers Scouting Report on Jaguars' Rookie OT Anton Harrison
Josh Allen is set to be a very good resource for Jacksonville Jaguars' rookie offensive tackle Anton Harrison.
The Jaguars' sack leader will test the Jaguars' first-round pick day in and day out until Week 1 rolls around, giving the No. 27 pick a prime opportunity to see just the caliber of pass-rusher he is set to face.
So with Allen and Harrison sharing the practice field for the first time this week at minicamp, what did Allen see?
"Just from the tape man, he kind of stands out, you know, just stands out. Quick, good feet, you know, that's one thing you want to look into a tackle is how good his feet are," Allen told local media this week after the first minicamp practice.
"And he's real good with his feet."
A four-star recruit out of high school, Harrison went on to play three seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners. The 21-year-old was a one-time All-Big 12 Selection and appeared in 34 contests, mostly at the left tackle spot, with one start coming at right tackle in their 2022 season opener against UTEP.
"He's a young man that checked all the boxes for us," Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said after the Jaguars selected Harrison.
“For me, the interaction that we had with him at the combine stood out. He’s a really a mature young man. Good head on his shoulders. Spoke well about a lot of things. Spoke well of his family. That was important to him, that's important to us. Just really felt the culture fit was ideal for us.”
Harrison is now set to be the Jaguars' Week 1 starter at right tackle, a role where he will have to quickly learn on the fly. For Allen, that means all the more reasons to ensure he takes it upon himself to get the young tackle ready.
"So I think once he gets comfortable in the scheme and gets comfortable working with all four of the other guys up front, think he's gonna be a heck of a player," Allen said.
"And that's what I said, man, I want to be around that talent. I want to challenge each other. You know, I think the best thing to go against him to help him grow is to go against guys that he's gonna see on Sundays. And, you know, I want to work with him. That doesn't get any better. So I'm excited for that."
