Josh Lambo Collects Another AFC Special Teams Award
After Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo accounted for 13 of Jacksonville's points in the team's Week 7 27-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, the automatic Lambo has earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
This is the second time in the last four weeks that Lambo has won the award. He also won it after he kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired against the Denver Broncos in Week 4.
Since signing with Jacksonville in the middle of the 2017 season, Lambo has provided one of the most reliable special teams presences in all of football, giving his teammates and coaching staff full confidence every time he lines up to kick.
Since signing with the Jaguars on Oct. 17, 2017, Lambo has made 56 of 59 field goal attempts (94.9 %.), the highest field goal percentage in the NFL over that span. He has also made all 33 of his attempts at home during this period.
Lambo is having a Pro Bowl type season in 2019 as he is 18-of-18 on field goals and 10-of-10 on point after attempts.
"Lambo’s 18 made FGs are tied with Arizona kicker Zane Gonzalez for the most in the NFL this season, and he joins Baltimore kicker Justin Tucker as the only kickers in the NFL this season with at least 15 field goal attempts and a 100% field goal conversion rate," the Jaguars said in a release.
Aside from being one of the top kickers in the NFL this season, Lambo has also kicked himself into Jacksonville record books.
"Lambo has converted 20 consecutive field goals dating back to 2018, the second-longest streak in franchise history and the longest active streak in the NFL," the Jaguars said. "He already owns the Jaguars’ record for consecutive made field goals after converting 24 straight FG attempts during the 2017-18 seasons."
Lambo is the first Jacksonville kicker to win multiple AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors in the same season since Josh Scobee did it in Weeks 1 & 5 in 2005.
