LT Cam Robinson to make his 2019 season debut against Titans on TNF
After Cam Robinson's 2018 season was lost to an ACL injury in week 2 and then a hyperextended knee injury cost him the first two games of 2019, Robinson will return as the Jacksonville Jaguars starting left tackle against the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football.
Head coach Doug Marrone said Monday that Robinson had been working out and progressing well, and then confirmed Wednesday that the third-year player would start against the Titans. Will Richardson started at tackle in his place for the first two weeks.
Robinson was hurt on Sept. 17 in 2018 and his return Thursday will be Sept. 19, a little over a year later.
"It feels good, know what I am saying, just knowing that I am going to be back," Robinson said Wednesday. " It is going to be fun to just get back onto the field in the regular season and get some game action."
While Robinson was recovering from his ACL, he leaned on his teammates and coaches to not only prepare him for football mentally, but also through the emotional trials of rehabbing a season-ending injury.
"I was leaning on those guys just trying to stay sharp mentally. But even more so leaning on them to help me through. With this ACL shit, you know, there is good days and bad days so I was kind of leaning on them to help me with that also and just trying to stay sharp mentally," Robinson said.
Many assumed Richardson would slide in at right guard once Robinson returned to the lineup, but Marrone said A.J. Cann will remain the starter on Thursday.
"A.J. (Cann) will be the right guard. And I wouldn't be surprised if Cedric (Ogbuehi) and Will (Richardson) both play in the game."
