PFF Ranks Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence As the No. 8 QB of 2022

2022 marked a turning of a corner for Lawrence, who now finds himself in the upper echelon of signal callers.

Duval County has itself a top quarterback talent.

In their top quarterbacks' list for the 2022 season, Pro Football Focus recognized Trevor Lawrence as the eighth-best quarterback, putting his name in the company of the NFL’s elite behind center.

Lawrence finished 2022 with 4,113 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions and finished off the year with a total QBR of 95.2. The sophomore surge was on for the young signal caller, whose individual success was a significant catalyst in a Jacksonville Jaguars season that ended in the AFC Divisional Round, their first playoff appearance since 2017.

Beyond the stat sheet, Lawrence showed improved poise, quick decision-making, and an enhanced feel for the game, consistently making smart decisions behind center and knowing when to escape and use his legs to extend plays.

Lawrence’s production has the Jacksonville Jaguars and the NFL on notice. Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke made clear in January that there is certainly more ahead for the young quarterback as he is trending toward becoming an elite quarterback talent.

"Well, I think he’s certainly trending that way and is there more? There’s a lot more,” Baalke said in his end of the season presser.

“I think Trevor would say the same thing. His upside, his ability to grow at the position from just a knowledge standpoint. You got to remember now, this is the third offense in three years that Trevor has played in, counting his senior year in college. You go from that to a new system in the NFL and then all the sudden, it’s a hit the reset button as we’ve got another offense. It’s his third offense in three years, and it takes a while to master that. I think you saw the development in him mentally as well as physically throughout the course of this season. I think it’s only going to trend upward from there.”
