Report: Jaguars were interested in reacquiring QB Alex McGough

The Jacksonville Jaguars were forced to get creative when adding to their quarterback room after starter Nick Foles broke his left clavicle on a touchdown pass in the first quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. And per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, one of the options they explored was brining back Alex McGough, who spent a few months on the roster before being cut on cut-down day.

While the Jaguars were not able to bring McGough back into the fold, they still made a move to add a quarterback by trading a 2020 fifth-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Josh Dobbs. Dobbs is set to backup rookie Gardner Minshew, who was 22-of-25 in relief of Foles during Sunday's 40-26 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

It is unclear how close the Jaguars actually were to acquiring McGough and whether or not they had to pivot to bringing Dobbs in after they were unable to sign their former quarterback. But it makes sense that the Jaguars would have been interested in him since he knows the system and, unlike Dobbs, it would not have cost draft capital to acquire him.
