Week 10 QB Index: Where Does Trevor Lawrence Rank Before 49ers Test?

Trevor Lawrence is still ranked top-8 in this week's rankings of the best quarterbacks.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has one of the biggest tests of his career in Week 10, taking on the San Francisco 49ers star-studded defense at home.

“They have great players, that’s the first thing that jumps off the tape. Great players that have been in the system for a while, too. You watch it and it’s a system that was installed since basically the day Kyle [Shanahan] got there and it’s kind of lived through different coordinators now at this point in time," Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor said on Thursday.

"But, you see the same schemes and same structures as they go, combined with great players. A bunch of first round draft picks on the defensive line and then the one guy that’s not is Hargrave [49ers DL Javon Hargrave] who is a high priced free agent they went and got. [49ers LB] Fred Warner is as good as any linebacker in the league right now, then it’s one of those things where you see a group that’s played in a system for a long time and they way they communicate is really good, the way they feed off each other, they way they know people like to attack them and the way they respond to that. It’s as good of a unit as we’ve seen so far.”

With Lawrence and the Jaguars looking for a chance to go 7-2 and add a signature win to their current five-game winning streak, Week 10 presents a big opportunity for Lawrence to climb in national rankings.

One ranking that has Lawrence as a top-10 quarterback -- but with notable names such as C.J. Stroud -- ahead of him is this week's QB Index from NFL.com.

"The numbers don't tell the whole story, but Lawrence has quietly put together a very solid season. Having said that, it could be so much better, if not for the narrow misses that were the fault of either Lawrence or his teammates. The good news is that he and the Jaguars are ironing out those wrinkles at a steady pace. Lawrence is gradually fine-tuning his own execution, too, making for an intriguing second half of the season for a Jaguars team that is rising along with its quarterback," NFL.com said.

With a win over the 49ers on Sunday, Lawrence and the Jaguars could see their stock continue to rise as one of the AFC's best teams.

Through eight games, Lawrence has completed 68.3% of his passes for 1,935 yards with nine touchdowns and four interceptions. Lawrence has also rushed 42 times for 216 yards.

Here is where we will track Lawrence's rank in the QB Index each week:

Week 1: 7

Week 2: 5

Week 3: 6

Week 4: 11

Week 5: 18

Week 6: 11

Week 7: 8

Week 8: 7

Week 9: 8

Week 10: 8
