Brock Party: New York Jets Hosting Potential No. 10 Overall Draft Pick at Florham Park
Boston is holding its marathon but it's also a pretty eventful Monday in the home of another AFC East team. The New York Jets unveiled new uniforms, welcomed rehabbing quarterback Aaron Rodgers to voluntary offseason workouts and are hosting potential No. 10 overall draft pick Brock Bowers to Florham Park.
Bowers, the consensus top tight end in this year's NFL Draft, is being projected by many mocks to be the Jets' selection in the first round. The Jets had one of the least productive tight-end groups in the league last season, and the addition of the Georgia star would give Rodgers another key weapon.
Bowers had 175 catches for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns at Georgia over the last three seasons and is also a versatile player who lined up on the line, in the slot and even out wide. At 6-3 and 245 pounds, he was a three-time All-American and considered a can't-miss NFL talent.
Tyler Conklin, Jeremy Ruckert, Kenny Yeboah, and Zack Kuntz are the current tight ends on the Jets roster.
New York must decide if it more needs another offensive lineman to help protect Rodgers, or a weapon like Bowers for the 40-year-old quarterbakc to throw to. Perhaps Monday's extensive visit will go a long way toward helping the Jets make their decision.
