Aaron Rodgers Celebrates End of Jets OTAs at Ed Sheeran Concert

The four-time NFL MVP, who will head west next week, posted a clip from Saturday's show on his Instagram story
In this story:

Aaron Rodgers wasn't expecting to have the week off, but New York Jets' head coach Robert Saleh punctuated organized team activities by cancelling mandatory minicamp.

"I’m glad we have this extra week," said Rodgers after the team's final OTAs Phase 3 practice on Friday. June 9. "I unfortunately didn’t plan for it, so I’m going to be around for a few more days."

Having not yet left for his West Coast trip, Rodgers was apparently amongst the concertgoers at MetLife Stadium on Saturday night.

One day after the Jets concluded their springtime practice schedule, Rodgers was busy enjoying another soldout show at the place where he'll play his home games in 2023.

Late last month, the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback attended country-pop sensation Taylor Swift's show on Gang Green's home field. He was seen dancing and singing along with thousands of adoring fans.

Next, on a late weekend night in June, Rodgers shared a video clip from the Ed Sheeran concert on his Instagram story.

The video, which appeared to have been captured from luxury box level seating, included a text overlay saying, "INCREDIBLE SHOW!!!" Rodgers also tagged Sheeran's Instagram account (@teddysphotos) in the post.

It wasn't clear if any Jets' teammates accompanied Rodgers to the Sheeran show. Cornerback Sauce Gardner, who was seen with his quarterback at a Knicks' playoffs game, was definitely not present. Gardner shared shots from Canada on his Instagram story Saturday.

Since arriving for his introductory press conference on April 26, Rodgers has taken advantage of the wide-ranging arts and entertainment offered in the New York Metropolitan area.

"I originally planned on being back on the West Coast for at least a week to get with my bodywork people and my trainers, but when I hurt my calf, it was best that I was here the entire time rehabbing and just being around the guys," said Rodgers about his longer-than expected springtime stay in New Jersey. "It made for a lot of opportunities for some get togethers in the city, obviously Taylor Swift concert, we had some good team dinners and a lot of hangout time, so that was good."

The 39-year old Rodgers summed it up by saying, "It was a lot of fun, actually, the last six weeks have been about the most fun I’ve had in a while."

Now, he'll spend the majority of the next 40 days out west.

"I got a Lake Tahoe trip and that’s about it. So, other than that, I’ll just be working out there," said Rodgers. "I’m excited to get away, refresh and then come back ready for the journey."

Ed's Jets Jersey 🤔

Could anyone confirm which player's jersey that Ed Sheeran was wearing on stage Saturday night? The No. 5 was clearly visible, but there's no telling what the name on the back was.

Was Ed rocking a Mike White jersey that he purchased on clearance after the Dolphins signed the former Jets' backup?

Was it a Thomas Morstead jersey? The punter, who wore No. 4 during his first go-round with Gang Green, was issued No. 5 this offseason.

The most logical answer is Sheeran was rocking customized Jets threads that just happened to feature the No. 5. Jets Country is working on confirming whether Sheeran's name appeared across the back of the shirt.
