It'll be Tyrod Taylor taking the snaps for the New York Giants when they "host" the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on October 29.

Addressing reporters on Friday in East Rutherford, Giants' head coach Brian Daboll declared injured started Daniel Jones out for the game.

"He will be out this game," said Daboll. "He's getting better. We'll see where he is next week."

Jones, who is dealing with a neck issue, practiced on a limited basis this week but has not yet been cleared for contact.

"There are certain things that I haven’t done yet," said Jones on Wednesday in East Rutherford. "I’m certainly trying as hard as I can to get back, but from the doctor’s standpoint it’s not something that he can clear me to do at this point."

The 34-year-old Taylor will make a third consecutive start in place of Jones. The grizzled veteran, who is known to protect the football, owns a 66.3 completion percentage and a 95.4 quarterback rating this season. He has thrown two touchdown passes and no interceptions.

Taylor will forever be known by Buffalo Bills' fans as the quarterback who broke the franchise's 17-year postseason drought in 2017. The Jets spilt the season series with the Bills that year as Taylor totaled five touchdowns and one interception over the two games.

On Sunday, Taylor will face a Jets' secondary that welcomes back starting cornerbacks Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed. Third-year head coach Robert Saleh said that the duo successfully cleared concussion protocol and are "good to go."

Gang Green has already shut down a number of the NFL's high-profile passers. In three games (two wins), the Jets limited Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts to a combined 3:8 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
