The New York Jets' saw their reliable center suffer a second-quarter injury that caused a Practice Squad player to enter the game.

Holding a 7-3 lead over the New York Giants, veteran Connor McGovern went down on a 2nd-and-10 from the Jets' 37-yard line. Quarterback Zach Wilson was heavily pressured but managed to complete a pass to Garrett Wilson along the right sideline for an 8-yard gain on a play that proved to be costly.

McGovern limped off the field and into the blue medical tent on the Jets' sideline. He was subsequently carted off to the locker-room.

The 30-year-old McGovern was officially designated as DOUBTFUL to return due to a knee injury.

Veteran Wes Schweitzer moved from right guard to center in relief of McGovern. Meanwhile, Xavier Newman entered the game to man the right guard spot. Newman, who was signed to the Jets' Practice Squad on October 5, was designated as a gameday elevation prior to the Week 8 matchup against Big Blue.

McGovern had started 54 of a possible 56 games for the Jets over three-plus seasons.
