The New York Jets have made some quality additions this offseason. Of all the additions made, it's the $40 million signing of quarterback Justin Fields that sticks out.

Fields signed with the Jets over the incumbent Pittsburgh Steelers after a short but sweet bidding war. The Ohio State product spent the 2024 season with Pittsburgh in which he started six games and won four of them.

The Athletic's Mike Sando recently spoke to a quarterback coach who raved about Fields' speed and athleticism.

"Fields is the best athlete on the field every time he plays," the QBs coach said, via Sando. "He’s really young (26 years old). He’s a tough guy, physically and mentally. He can play in that style of (dual-threat) offense at a higher level than Sam Darnold can play in a traditional style of offense."

This doesn't seem like a crazy statement to make. Fields is a generational talent with his legs. If he can put the pieces together with his arm and between the ears, the 26-year-old could end up being one of the best players in the league.

When the young signal caller lands in New York, it might be a bit more difficult to be the best athlete on the field, though. New York's Garrett Wilson is a tremendous athlete with incredible ability in his own right.

Either way, Jets fans should be excited to have such a talented playmaker at the quarterback position. Especially considering the lack of athleticism the Jets had at the position last year.
