Jets WR coach Shawn Jefferson juxtaposes Robby Anderson's plight to Michael Jordan

Anderson has been a non-factor offensively during the 0-3 start for the Jets.

New York Jets wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson referenced basketball royalty on Tuesday to describe Robby Anderson's rising frustrations.

This was supposed to be Anderson's breakout campaign but instead it's been an extremely quiet start to the 2019 season for the fourth-year wide receiver.

Anderson's worked alongside three different quarterbacks (Sam Darnold, Trevor Siemian, Luke Falk) due to illnesses/injuries through three games for the Jets (0-3).

Consequently, Anderson has tallied just 10 receptions for 115 yards and no touchdowns.

Jefferson says Anderson's current situation is actually comparable to Pro Basketball Hall of Fame member Michael Jordan.

“I’m sure Michael Jordan got frustrated when he didn’t get the ball..." Jefferson said. "Robby wants to win. He hasn’t won much (with the Jets). That’s probably why we’re here- the coaching staff.”

Jefferson added that he isn't "taking a shot" at the previous coaching staff but says the pressure is on him to figure things out or else he'll be on the chopping block.

Also, it's not fair to compare someone who hasn't even logged a 1,000 yard season yet to the man many deem the NBA's G.O.A.T. player. However, it doesn't diminish Jefferson's overall point.

Anderson's competitive juices are overflowing as the Jets attempt to steer their season back in the right direction. With Darnold (mono) apparently on track to return in Week 5 at the Philadelphia Eagles (1-2), Anderson will have an ample opportunity to increase his productivity when the Jets come out of their bye.

Overall, Anderson is hungry to prove his worth and help the Jets get out of this early season funk.

“The world knows what I’m capable of,” Anderson said. “I know what I’m capable of. So it’s frustrating. If I had 11 yards and we won, I wouldn’t be upset. If I have 100 yards and we lose, I’m going to be upset. My intent is never selfish. I’m here to win. I’m here to provide my services. So it’s frustrating for me, because I know what I’m capable of.”
