Jets Combine Notes: Top 5 Offensive Linemen Standouts

The New York Jets will be addressing the offensive line in droves during April's Draft. Luckily for them, there were plenty of major standouts.

The most important day of the 2024 Scouting Combine for the New York Jets has come and gone.

Some of the top offensive linemen finished off their workouts in Indianapolis to conclude the week-long scouting session. For a team that needs offensive linemen like the Jets, there was plenty to be pleased about.

Today, we go through the top standouts from Sunday's workouts.

Joe Alt

How many left tackles do you know that are 6-8 and can run a 5.07 40-time?

Alt was simply sensational Sunday and showed why he will be the top offensive lineman selected in April's Draft. He was excellent in pass block drills, and flexible enough moving laterally that he will be a Day 1 starter for any organization.

Sunday seemed too easy for Alt, but he's going to be a player the Jets should try to trade up if they possibly can.

Troy Fautanu

After Alt, arguably the biggest winner of the Combine drills was Fautanu. He has the flexibility to play both guard and tackle, even though the Washington left tackle stated he wanted to be a tackle at the NFL level.

He's a player that the Jets could acquire with a trade-down if they lose out on Alt or Penn State's Olu Fashanu.

Tyler Guyton

Guyton can be considered a project, but he was very strong in drills Sunday.

He is a massive player but is one of the more athletic players in his position. He's going to be a Day 1 starter at right tackle but could develop into a left tackle under proper coaching. This is a player the Jets could consider if they are looking to trade out of the Top 10  in the coming weeks.

Christian Haynes

Haynes has been a Draft crush of mine due to his nastiness and athleticism as a guard. He showed that with a top-10 finish among offensive linemen in the 40-yard dash.

Haynes was also very strong in combo drills that forced him to pull and get upfield - an important step for interior offensive linemen in the current league.

Haynes had a good day and supplanted himself as a Day 2 pick.

Kingsley Suamataia

The Jets don't have a second-round pick, but with the deep class of offensive linemen, it would make sense for the organization to trade up for a player like Suamataia.

The BYU product looked really strong in drills was seemed to get on the good side of offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland. When that happens, especially with a coach like Stoutland, you know a player performed well.

This is the kind of athletic specimen that would fit the Jets' plans well.

BONUS: Taliese Fuaga

NFL Network host Daniel Jeremiah could not stop talking about Taliese Fuaga in drills Sunday and for good reason. Fuaga's athleticism and strength were apparent throughout his workout.

He's the kind of player that, if Fashanu and Alt are gone, the Jets could look to trade back for if there is a team looking to add a quarterback with the 10th overall spot.

Simply put, the Jets have plenty of options along the offensive line on Draft Day.
