Jets Watching Chargers During Free Agency?

With the NFL's new "year" starting at 4 p.m., the New York Jets will be one of many teams watching what the Los Angeles Chargers do with their top receivers.
In this story:

The New York Jets' need for a top wide receiver to pair with Garrett Wilson is real.

Outside of missing out on a couple of trades, and free agent signings, the receiver position has been picked clean for the most part - leaving organizations like the Jets looking for answers.

Luckily for them, all eyes turn to the Los Angeles Chargers and the new league year beginning at 4:00 pm - ET where all teams need to be cap-compliant. The Chargers are the only team left with serious cap concerns and questions about the future of pass rushers Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa, along with wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams need to be answered.

Should the Chargers look to release Allen or Williams, or both, the Jets will have a golden opportunity to remain patient on the open market and have a quality veteran fall right into their lap.

This could be why the organization was passive at the start of free agency - waiting to strike on a couple of veteran wideouts who would be better than anything available on the open market. Allowing a market to settle could bring quality players available like Allen and Williams could do.

While the Chargers are expected to release one or both, the Jets will be on the lookout for the available players once they hit the open market.

After a quiet start to the offseason, general manager Joe Douglas' patience could pay off in a big way.
