New York Jets Trade of Aaron Rodgers Backup Zach Wilson? That 'Era' Seems Over
The "Zach Wilson Era'' is going to be over before it ever really began ... and so, we bet, will the "Zach Wilson Window to Be Traded.''
The New York Jets quarterback was the No. 2 overall pick in his NFL Draft, but is now considered a "bust.'' Develop into a starter? Nope. Mature behind Aaron Rodgers? Nope.
Permission to seek a trade? Yup ... But not many suitors will be knocking on that door.
Wilson's play does not suggest he has trade value. And his contract isn't all that inviting, either ... though the guaranteed $5.5 million might not be an obstacle for a team that wouldn't count on him but has ample cap room. (The Rams fall into that first category.)
So even as ESPN notes the "permission given to seek a trade'' angle? This is almost surely really going to be about the Jets waiting, waiting and waiting ... and then cutting the first-round failure.
