If past performance provides an indication, Aaron Rodgers is capable of boosting the New York Jets' offensive efficiency, which was severely lacking last year.

Gang Green resided near the basement level in a number of key categorical rankings. The Green & White accounted for 17.4 points per game, ranking 29th out of 32 teams in scoring offense.

When it comes to passing efficiency, the Jets' 6.45 yards per attempt average landed in the bottom quarter of the league-wide rankings. The team's revolving door of quarterbacks combined for only 14 touchdown passes in 17 games.

Average quarterback play should instantly boost those numbers, so imagine what's possible with a four-time MVP at the controls.

In a "down" year (relative to his career averages), Rodgers accounted for 6.8 yards per pass and his 26 touchdown passes were most on the NFL leaderboard.

Former NFL defensive back Bucky Brooks, now an analyst for the leaguer's media team, projects that Rodgers's addition to the offense will improve the unit's performance as a whole. Brooks classified the Jets as one of four teams that "should make a significant jump" offensively.

The Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers joined Gang Green in "2023 NFL season: The four offenses that will make the biggest jump this fall."

New York Jets

  • 2022 record: 7-10
  • 2022 scoring offense: 29th
  • 2022 total offense: 25th

The Aaron Rodgers Experience may or may not result in a Super Bowl appearance, but you can be sure of one thing: The presence of the four-time MVP will accelerate the development of New York's young core while adding structure and organization to an offense that was in flux a season ago.

As a meticulous competitor with a distinguished résumé, Rodgers will set a championship standard for the unit and teach Jets players -- and coaches -- how to perform at that level. ... If new offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett can handle game-management duties without a hitch, the Jets' offense should flourish with a gold jacket player at the helm.

— Bucky Brooks

Earlier this month, Brooks highlighted Gang Green's defensive prowess by featuring two Jets on his list of "top 10 non-quarterback franchise building blocks." The Green & White were the lone team with double representation.
