Madden NFL '21 doesn't have Jamal Adams as the top rated safety

Madden NFL '21 doesn't have Jamal Adams as their top rated safety.

Despite a recent poll of NFL executives that said he was the top safety in the NFL, Jamal Adams isn’t the highest-ranked safety in Madden NFL ’21. He isn’t number two.

Adams, is tied for third.

Jaw drops.

In what can only be considered a head scratcher, the All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection is tied for third in the player rankings for the popular video game. This is a significant slight to Adams who is considered the top safety in the NFL and one of the game’s most dominant players.

Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith is the highest ranked safety in the game (95) and, coincidentally, came in second in ESPN’s executive poll at the safety position. Coming in second here for Madden is Tyrann Mathieu of the Arizona Cardinals (93). Adams is tied for third with New England Patriots safety Devon McCourty (92).

It is quite a slight for Adams, not that the other players aren’t deserving of their rank but that Adams is ranked so low. Had he been tied with Smith with a same player rating, it would be a bit easier to understand (Adams and Smith were reportedly close in the ESPN.com safety poll ranking). But to see Adams so low is perplexing. McCourty, for what it is worth, was not an All-Pro selection in 2019.

Last season, Adams was borderline dominant and praised on a weekly basis by nearly every opposing head coach leading up to the game.

In 14 games, he had 75 tackles, 6.5 sacks, seven passes defended, two forced fumbles, 13 quarterback hits and 10 tackles for a loss. He was the only player on the Jets roster selected to the Pro Bowl.
