On Road to Recovery, Aaron Rodgers Walking Without Crutches
Aaron Rodgers appears to be healing quickly.
In a social media video posted by the New York Jets' official X account (@nyjets), the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback can be seen walking without the aid of crutches.
With the Jets set to host the Eagles on Sunday at 4:25 pm ET, the video captured Rodgers riding shotgun in a golf cart through the bowels of MetLife Stadium. Recovering from Achilles surgery, the 39-year-old field general was wearing grey pants and Adidas sneakers along with a black hooded sweatshirt and baseball cap.
The golf cart stopped in front of the Jets' locker-room and Rodgers disembarked. Standing up without crutches, he casually threw a backpack over his right shoulder and gingerly proceeded through the locker-room doors. The video post was timestamped at 1:27 pm ET, about three hours prior to kickoff in East Rutherford.
About one hour later, more social media video surfaced and it showed Rodgers standing stationary on the turf at MetLife Stadium while leisurely tossing a football. Not bad for a soon-to-be 40-year-old who underwent major surgery one month ago.
Despite rupturing his Achilles in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, Rodgers hasn't completely closed the door on miraculously returning to the field later this season. Just two days removed from surgery, Rodgers appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and vowed to "shock some people" with his recovery from the September 11 injury.
Sports injury expert Dr. David Chao, also known as @ProFootballDoc, reposted the video of Rodgers stepping out of the golf cart and added a short analysis.
"Cue the return this season talk. No crutches but no push off when walking," said the former San Diego Chargers' team doctor on the social media site formerly known as Twitter.
Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, joined the Jets via trade in late April. He was lost to injury only four offensive snaps into the season opener.
