It won't get any easier for the struggling New York Jets in Week 4.

After suffering back-to-back losses, Robert Saleh's team will host the Super Bowl LVII champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football and it's likely to endure another defeat according to the oddsmakers.

For what will be the franchise's first SNF appearance since 2011, SI Sportsbook lists the Jets as 9.5-point underdogs as of Monday morning. The nearly double-digit point spread is the second-largest on the 16-game slate that kicks off on Thursday night with the Green Bay Packers hosting the Detroit Lions

Only the San Francisco 49ers are a heavier favorite than the Chiefs to win in Week 4. Hosting the Arizona Cardinals, the 49ers are currently laying 13.5 points on the SI Sportsbook betting line.

The Jets have been the underdog in each of their first three games. After pulling the outright upset over the Buffalo Bills, the Green & White has failed to cover the spread for two straight weeks.

With the quarterback matchup pitting Zach Wilson against reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, the betting line could move even further in the Chiefs' favor as kickoff gets closer.

Saleh said that Wilson will remain the starter despite a lack of efficiency through the season's first 12 quarters. The Jets' offense has accounted for only one touchdown per game thus far.

"It’s still a team game — offense, defense, special teams — and we’ve got to play better everywhere," said Saleh. "We’ve just got to be better around him [Wilson]."

The Chiefs are coming off a 41-10 thrashing of the Chicago Bears. Kansas City and the Jets last met in 2020, a 35-9 loss for the Green & White at Arrowhead Stadium. Sam Darnold was New York's quarterback at the time, passing for 133 yards on 30 attempts. Mahomes threw for 416 yards and five touchdowns.

On the money line, the Chiefs are -450 favorites to win on October 1 at MetLife Stadium. The Jets are +340 as underdogs. The point total (over/under) opened at 42.5.
