The next time a National Football League game is played, the New York Jets will be on the field.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the matchup for its annual HOF Game, providing a center-stage opportunity for the Jets and the Cleveland Browns this summer.

The Jets and Browns will kick off the 2023 NFL Preseason on Thursday, August 3 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, which lies adjacent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH.

Tickets for the 2023 Hall of Fame Game will go on sale March 8 via ProFootballHOF.com.

Last year, the Las Vegas Raiders defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-11, in the Hall of Fame Game, a tradition that began in 1962.

It will be the Jets' third appearance in the annual exhibition with their most-recent participation coming in 1992. New York defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 41-14, nearly 31 years ago.

In the 1977 HOF Game, the Chicago Bears posted a 20-6 win over the Jets.

The two HOF Game's two participating teams will each play four preseason games in 2023 while the other 30 NFL clubs will have only three tune-ups.

The Jets’ participation in the preseason opener became a serious possibility once former Gang Green stars Joe Klecko and Darrelle Revis were officially announced as members of the 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class on February 9.

Meanwhile, the Browns will celebrate former offensive tackle Joe Thomas' enshrinement in Canton.
