On the same day that the New York Jets regained a key piece to their offense, a lineman and a pass-catcher joined the ranks of the injured.

Veteran bookend Duane Brown was a limited participant at training camp practice for the first time this summer after coming off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on Wednesday, but Gang Green has temporarily lost the services of utility man Wes Schweitzer and starting receiver Allen Lazard in the meantime.

Schweitzer, who was taking first-team reps at right guard when Alijah Vera-Tucker was out last week, spent his day working out on the side during the practice session that welcomed spectators to Florham Park. The versatile offensive lineman, who signed a free-agent deal with the Jets this past March, was spotted on the exercise bike Wednesday.

Prior to Thursday's practice, Jets' head coach Robert Saleh said Schweitzer is "dealing with an ankle."

A valuable depth piece, Schweitzer has seen game action at all five spots on the O-line over the course of his NFL career.

Lazard, who led the Green Bay Packers in receptions and receiving yards in 2022, accounted for a sensational play before eventually leaving practice with an apparent injury. The 6-foot-5 target was on the receiving end of a 32-yard touchdown pass from a scrambling Aaron Rodgers. He secured the catch in the back right corner of the end zone despite being blanketed by All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner.

About an hour after making the scoring snag, Lazard was seen walking off to the locker-room and did not return.

"He's dealing with an AC joint," said Saleh on Thursday. "We're not worried about his availability for Week 1."

Lazard started the Jets' preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past Saturday. The offseason free-agent addition made one 16-yard reception for a first down in the 13-6 setback.

The receiving corps cannot afford any long-term loss at this point in time, especially in the wake of the Corey Davis news that surfaced on Wednesday. The 28-year-old pass-catcher, who had been away from the team for "personal reasons" since August 16, announced that he was "stepping away from the game."
